The Christ Hospital Earns “A” Grade for Patient Safety

The ‘A’ Grade is the Highest Mark from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report

CINCINNATI (May 1, 2024) – The Christ Hospital has earned an ‘A’ grade for patient safety by The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report for Spring 2024. The nation’s most prestigious award for patient safety rates how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections.

An “A” grade is one of the most meaningful honors a hospital can achieve and one of the most valuable indicators for patients looking for a safe place to receive care. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national independent nonprofit.

“Leapfrog’s “A” rating remains the gold standard for patients and their families looking for the highest safety measures in the healthcare industry,” said Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “Our team members are committed to doing everything it takes for the safety of all of our patients. By setting the standard of quality practices at our healthcare network, we are able fulfill our mission of improving the health of our community while providing value as a result of exceptional patient outcomes.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.

“Everyone who works at The Christ Hospital Health Network should be proud of this ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes complete dedication of at every level, and an ironclad commitment to putting patients first. I thank The Christ Hospital Health Network, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for caring so deeply for its patients and their safety.”
