Critical Connections Program
When you or a loved one are in an intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition, nothing can replace the effectiveness of a specialist in the room. An intensivist is a doctor who specializes in caring for critically ill patients. These specialists normally work with your family physician or surgeon and ICU nurses. But when the intensivist can’t be there every minute, continual care and monitoring are still needed.

The Christ Hospital’s eICU Program – called Critical Connections - provides ICU patients with constant, expert care by a qualified remote critical care team. This team monitors every aspect of the patient’s condition – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Critical Connections team does not replace your family physician or surgeon, or direct care provided at the patient’s bedside. Instead, it provides additional support to ensure the best possible care of you or your loved one, and aims to alleviate some of the stress and anxiety faced by family members and loved ones.
