Getting Vaccinated Against COVID-19

The Christ Hospital Health Network offers COVID-19 vaccines and boosters for patients ages 6 years and up at select locations throughout Greater Cincinnati.

Here you can learn about eligibility and how to schedule your vaccination appointment. The Christ Hospital is currently stocking Moderna vaccines only.

Moderna Primary COVID-19 Vaccine Series

Your first vaccination against COVID-19 will come in two doses. It is recommended that you get your second shot 4 – 8 weeks after your first dose.

  • If you currently have COVID-19, wait to get vaccinated until your symptoms are gone and you are out of isolation.

  • If you have (or recently had) multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS), wait to get vaccinated until you are fully recovered from being sick and it's been at least 90 days since your diagnosis.

  • Immunocompromised individuals may require additional doses. Talk to your provider to determine the right vaccination schedule.

Common side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine may include pain or swelling in the arm where you got the shot, and fever, chills, tiredness, or headache. These side effects are usually mild and go away in a few days.

Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Boosters (NEW Formula as of Fall 2022)

The COVID-19 bivalent booster adds additional immune protection against the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants.

  • You should receive a bivalent COVID-19 booster two months after your last COVID-19 vaccine dose (final shot of primary series or previous monovalent booster).

  • If you have had COVID-19, you can be vaccinated once your isolation time has ended and you are no longer experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

If you received another vaccine brand for your primary series or most recent booster (such as Pfizer), you can still receive a Moderna bivalent booster. You should not receive more than one bivalent booster at this time.

Scheduling Your Vaccination or Booster

At our primary care offices

You can schedule your vaccine or booster online through your Patient Portal. You'll find the option in The Christ Hospital Mobile App or MyChart for Desktop under "Schedule an Appointment." You will only see the vaccination or booster options for which you are eligible.

If you haven't created your Patient Portal, you can sign-up for an account here by answering a few short questions.

You can also call your primary care office directly to ask about scheduling.

At The Christ Hospital Apothecary

The Christ Hospital Apothecary is a full-service retail pharmacy located on our main campus in Mt. Auburn. You can schedule your vaccination at the Apothecary through the Ohio Department of Health website.

Search by Zip Code 45219, then choose The Christ Hospital Apothecary to find available appointment times.

At other locations

To find additional vaccination locations outside The Christ Hospital Health Network, The Greater Cincinnati Health Collaborative has a listing of other vaccine locations in our area, including vaccine locations for children ages 6 months – 5 years old.

I have an upcoming surgery or procedure. Can I still get my vaccine?
