The National Kidney Foundation has selected Paula Franckhauser, our kidney transplant coordinator
, as its 2016 Champion of the Year. Paula actively volunteers her time with the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). The NKF Champion of the Year award is one of the highest honors given to a NKF volunteer.
"We're very excited for Paula to be recognized for her exceptional work with both The Christ Hospital patients and the National Kidney Foundation,” said Michael Cardi, M.D., medical director of the Kidney Transplant Center at The Christ Hospital. “Our mission is to improve the health of our community and to create patient value by providing exceptional outcomes, affordable care and the finest patient experiences, and Paula is passionately pursuing this mission each day.”
Paula has served on the NKF task forces to help with program development and evaluation, she is a member of and contributor to the NKF Medical Advisory Board, serves on the NKF Kidney Walk planning committee where she has assumed leadership roles, volunteers at the NKF community outreach and fundraising events, and champions our support as a community partner.
“There was no hesitation in making this choice, as Paula has been one of our most outstanding volunteers and advocates for patients, organ donation, community education and the work of the National Kidney Foundation,” said National Kidney Foundation Regional Vice President Brenita Brooks. “There has never been a time that we have called on Paula for help that she has not answered our call. She has provided our organization with strong thought leadership as she has a wealth of knowledge about patient needs, resources, and the role that the National Kidney Foundation should play in supporting the renal community.”
Paula has been our employee since 2002. She worked as a staff nurse, case manager and clinical coordinator prior to joining the transplant team in 2006. She is a clinical certified transplant nurse and clinical certified transplant coordinator. Paula was honored at the NKF’s Annual Meeting and Reception on April 26 in Columbus, Ohio.
