Oh, Baby! How to Do Birthing Better

I remember the exact second Penelope was born. Actually, I don’t. For me, giving birth was one of the most surreal moments of my life. I was totally in that exact moment. I was overwhelmed. I was emotional and all of my feelings were happening at once. I was worried about the baby. I was worried about my partner. I was worried about myself. I didn’t have a single moment to think about anything else. When you’re in a situation like this, it really does create peace of mind to know that everything is being handled for you. That’s exactly what The Christ Hospital Birthing Centers offers you when you choose them to deliver your baby at one of their locations. Recently, I went to their birthing center at the main campus in Mt. Auburn to take a tour and learn about the little things they add to the birthing experience.

Penelope was born in 2017, which was not that long ago, and I was shocked to learn about all the changes in such a short amount of time. They’ve added wireless monitors so you can walk around while you’re in labor and not be strapped to what feels like 500 machines, adorable Snapchat filters that change monthly, gender reveal boxes that you can share with your family, different methods in pain management for natural birth, an app called BabyGigglesTM that follows every moment throughout your pregnancy, and so much more. Check out my video with Beth Smith, RN, to learn more about The Christ Hospital Birthing Center - Mt. Auburn and all of the small touches they have to offer.
