That Moment Neighbors Become Family Is Now

There are many ways to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. But protecting yourself goes beyond your physical health – it’s also important to focus on emotional well-being, both for you and the community.

Arturo Polizzi, CEO, The Christ Hospital Health Network

A Message from our CEO: The Community’s Role in the Coronavirus Pandemic

As a relative newcomer to the greater Cincinnati region, I am amazed by the degree of cooperation, generosity, kindness and openness demonstrated by its residents, employers, nonprofit organizations, government officials, and my colleagues at other health systems. I am inspired by those who are being asked to step into the center of this pandemic and do so – the nurses, physicians, and all of the support staff who keep healthcare organizations running smoothly – as well as our police force, firefighters, and so many more. Without these individuals, we would not be able to tend to the ill, comfort the hurt, or provide our community the crucial care it deserves.

Within our families and throughout our neighborhoods, there are widespread feelings of fear, loneliness, uncertainty, and isolation. We’re now in a new world for which many are unprepared. Our society is aching for a time when we can once again connect with one another – with friends for drinks, with family over meals, or to simply shake a hand or give a hug.

Today, The Christ Hospital family commits to doing everything humanly possible to ensure that our community stays fully connected. We’re writing letters to the elderly who are isolated from their families. We’re opening up phone lines for our patients to call when they need to hear a human voice. We’re offering more convenient ways for our patients to access the care they need. And we’re hosting virtual community forums, where groups can socialize and share experiences. There has never been a more important moment in time….where we can not only strengthen the bonds with current and past connections but also build new ones.

That moment is now. Please join me and everyone at The Christ Hospital as we work to lift up the community and send a message to all those in need that you are not alone. We will be here with you today, tomorrow, and always – as a beacon of hope and strength.

With Gratitude,
Arturo
