The Christ Hospital and Beacon Orthopaedics Expand Sports Medicine Partnership to Lakota Schools

Partnership Provides Comprehensive Care Beyond just Orthopaedics

Cincinnati, OH (Nov. 7, 2016) – The Christ Hospital Health Network and Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine are proud to announce the initiation of a partnership with Lakota Local Schools, the region’s second largest school district.  Sports medicine physician Timothy Kremchek, M.D. of Beacon Orthopaedics will be the Medical Director serving the nearly 2,400 students at Lakota West High School.  Peter Cha, M.D., also of Beacon Orthopaedics, will be the Medical Director covering over 2,500 students at Lakota East High School.

“The relationship between Christ Hospital and Beacon Orthopaedics will provide comprehensive care beyond just orthopedics to student athletes as the need may arise, including heart and vascular, surgical and primary care services,” said Herb Caillouet, Executive Director of The Christ Hospital Joint & Spine Center. “The partnership approach is to enhance preventative and injury care for Lakota District student athletes along with improving healthcare available to all students, faculty and family members in the entire Lakota local school community.”

The Christ Hospital and Beacon Orthopaedics will provide full-time athletic trainers for the schools, as well as have sideline medical support during major sporting events.  Other benefits include performance benchmarking, nutrition planning, strength and conditioning, and expedited care for the student population and their families.

“We are looking forward to partnering with Christ to transform sports medicine care for the Lakota Community,” stated Dr. Timothy Kremchek, the new Medical Director for Lakota West.  “Our partnership is designed to help schools receive the highest quality orthopaedic care in the region.”

Scott Kaufman, Athletic Director of Lakota West, spoke on behalf of the school, “I am thrilled for Lakota West to be entering into this partnership with Dr. Kremchek, Beacon Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, and the Christ Hospital.  From our first tour of Beacon’s facilities, it is clear that they treat each patient like a professional athlete.  The services and care that are now available to our student athletes will help take our programs to the next level in strength, conditioning, injury prevention and post-injury treatments.”

Richard Bryant, the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Lakota East High School, shared similar sentiments, “We are very excited about the opportunity to work with Beacon Orthopedics, the Christ Hospital, and Dr. Peter Cha. At the end of the day, this partnership allows us to put the preventative and post-injury care of our student athletes first. As the Athletic Director at Lakota East High School, I feel that we have taken an incredible step forward in the manner that our athletes and their families will be treated.”
