The Christ Hospital Announces Two New Medical Directors for Women’s Health

The Christ Hospital Health Network is proud to announce that Michael Karram, MD, and Leanne Olshavsky, MD, have been named the new medical directors for the Women’s Health service line.

The Christ Hospital Health Network is proud to announce that Michael Karram, MD, and Leanne Olshavsky, MD, have been named the new medical directors for the Women’s Health service line.

Dr. Karram has taken on the role of Executive Medical Director for Women’s Health, a service line that has been recognized for several awards, including Becker’s Top 100 Hospitals or Health Systems with Great Women’s Health Program, U.S. News and World Report top 50 in Gynecology, and Women’s Choice Best Hospital for Obstetrics in Ohio.

Dr. Karram earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, received his medical degree from Cairo University in Giza, Egypt and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.

A fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Karram is double board certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (urogynecology) and in obstetrics and gynecology. He also serves as the director of the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship at The Christ Hospital.

Dr. Karram's special interests include: female pelvic and vaginal reconstructive surgery, advanced gynecologic surgery, pelvic organ prolapsed, uterine-sparing procedures, management of vaginal mesh and sling complications, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, urogynecology, female urinary incontinence and in-office gynecologic surgery.

Dr. Olshavsky, has been named the Associate Medical Director for Women’s Health and the Medical Director at the new Family Birthing Center at The Christ Hospital Medical Center – Liberty Township. The birthing center will offer a boutique-like experience for expectant mothers and their families. Rooms were developed with the input from moms and families – featuring kitchenette amenities, hydrotherapy and extra-large showers and colors that sooth the mind and body. The center will also be home to the only cesarean section birth viewing room in the region. Families will also get to experience the special care that only The Christ Hospital Physicians and nurses can deliver.

Dr. Olshavsky earned her undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH. She attended medical school and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she was also chief resident.

Dr. Olshavsky received the 2007 Cincinnati Obstetrics and Gynecology Society Award and the 2011 Esprit de Corps Award, a peer-selected award granted to the obstetrics and gynecology resident who best exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and congeniality. Also in 2011, she received the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine Judy Griffis Gynecologic Oncology Resident Award.

Dr. Olshavsky has also worked as a research assistant at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and has published numerous scientific publications and presentations in her field. She has volunteered as a rape crisis counselor at the Community Counseling and Crisis Center in Oxford, Ohio and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
