The program provides comprehensive heart health evaluations, management care, and specialty consultations at health centers in rural areas where rates of heart disease are high, and access to heart care is limited. Each center is staffed with a medical professional specially trained in telemedicine who connects patients face-to-face with cardiologists at The Christ Hospital, as well as measures, records, and shares patient information.

“We are proud to support The Christ Hospital’s Telemedicine Heart Health Program, as it provides crucial access to healthcare services that people need to improve and maintain their heart health,” says Jeffrey Kruse, Vice President and Trust Officer of The Maxon Foundation, U.S. Bank.

The Christ Hospital began its Telemedicine Heart Health Program in 2016, with the help of a grant from The Maxon Foundation, which provided telemedicine technology for two health centers in Adams County, Ohio and Batesville, Indiana. The program has received high ratings on patient satisfaction surveys for providing faster access to vital heart health services, and greatly reducing the amount of time and money that patients spend on traveling to receive care they need. This year, The Maxon Foundation awarded the hospital a $100,000 grant to expand the program to the rural counties of Brookville and Osgood, Indiana.

“A major barrier that people in remote areas face is finding time and transportation to get to our campus. Many put their health at risk, going without the care they need. The Maxon Foundation has provided an innovative way for individuals in rural areas to conveniently access our physicians, and, ultimately, more effectively prevent, diagnose, treat, and manage heart disease,” says Dr. Santosh Menon, cardiologist and Medical Director of the Clinical Cardiology Service Line at The Christ Hospital.

“The Maxon Foundation’s ongoing support of our Telemedicine Heart Health Program will make a significant impact on the heart health of people in our region’s rural communities,” says Rick Kammerer, President of The Christ Hospital Foundation. “We are grateful for their continued generosity as we strive to improve patient care through philanthropic donations from the community.”
