The Christ Hospital Health Network, nationally recognized as one of the nation’s top 50 heart hospitals, is pleased to announce a newly formed partnership for corporate health solutions between The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute and Atkins & Pearce, a local manufacturing company located in Covington, KY. The direct contracting partnership begins May 1, 2021 and brings world-class heart & vascular care to Atkins & Pearce employee health plan participants.

Designed specifically for Atkins & Pearce through The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute’s Center of Excellence (COE), the program combines the finest in cardiology patient care experiences, exceptional clinical outcomes and significant cost savings through incentives for Atkins & Pearce employee health plan members.

“We are delighted to partner with a community leader such as Atkins & Pearce to provide leading-edge cardiovascular care right here in Cincinnati,” said Dean J. Kereiakes, M.D., President, The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute. “The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute, a nationally acclaimed center of excellence and community resource, is privileged to have such a distinguished partner.”

Atkins & Pearce health plan members will receive care from nationally recognized heart and vascular cardiologists—specialists and subspecialists—and benefit from The Heart & Vascular Institute’s comprehensive evidence-based cardiac care. The COE program features private rooms with a comfortable space for family and visitors, state-of-the-art operating rooms, inpatient and outpatient services, and on-site lab facilities. Members receive one bill for facility and surgeon fees and fees for other ancillary costs during the hospital stay or visit. Benefits also include Clinical Concierge guidance with a Cardiac Navigator to triage patients, answer questions, assist with follow-up care and handle the scheduling of appointments.

“The Christ Hospital is well known as the “Most Preferred” healthcare network in the region, ranked as #1 in the Cincinnati area by US News and World Report, and consistently ranked highest in the area by the most important rating agencies,” said Jeb Head, President/Owner at Atkins & Pearce. "The excellence of The Christ Hospital is driven by a team of exceptional physicians, clinicians, and staff with a deep commitment to patient care. We look forward to working with The Christ Hospital to improve health outcomes for our employees and their families."

In 2020, The Christ Hospital expanded their Corporate Health Solutions for regional businesses to include both Orthopedic and Cardiology programs, and currently engage with more than 200 companies for hospital and medical services.

“It’s no secret that employers in general are frustrated with the high costs of healthcare,” said Ken Schorsch, Director of Business Development and Corporate Health Solutions for The Christ Hospital. “Now we offer lower healthcare costs, improved medical outcomes and increased employee satisfaction.”

An existing partner of the Orthopedic Center of Excellence program at The Christ Hospital, for total joint replacement benefits, Atkins & Pearce is excited to expand their Christ Hospital healthcare partnership.

“We're thrilled to add this featured solution from The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute and continue our strong relationship with The Christ Hospital,” said Tonya Arrasmith, VP of HR at Atkins & Pearce. “Through this healthcare partnership, we ensure that our health plan members will receive the best in world-class cardiovascular care."

This practice, known as direct contracted healthcare services, is a mainstream innovation that enables businesses to improve medical outcomes for employees and simultaneously reengineer their healthcare expenditures. Healthcare in the United States is roughly a three trillion-dollar industry—with about 30% representing hospital costs—but The Christ Hospital believes contracted services are not merely about reducing healthcare costs. “Our contracts focus on providing the best patient outcomes, improved employee health, medical care for chronic conditions—with end-to-end services including insurance billing and quarterly outcome reporting,” says Schorsch.
