The Christ Hospital Receives The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification for Palliative Care

First Hospital in the Region to Earn Certification

Cincinnati (July 30, 2015) – The Christ Hospital has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Certification for Palliative Care, a quality program that focuses on achieving optimum care for patients with serious illnesses. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. The Christ Hospital is the first recognized palliative care program in the region.
The Christ Hospital underwent a rigorous on-site review in June. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national palliative care standards built on the National Consensus Project’s Clinical Practice Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care and the National Quality Forum’s National Framework and Preferred Practices for Palliative and Hospice Quality Care.
Established in 2011, The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification for Palliative Care, awarded for a two-year period, recognizes organizations that demonstrate exceptional patient and family-centered care in order to optimize the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses.
