Your foot is made up of 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles and numerous tendons. Keeping such a multifaceted system working in harmony is a very complex process. With so many intricate parts, it’s easy to understand why so many people experience foot and ankle problems. 

Our podiatrists are Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), with advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of conditions affecting the foot, ankle and lower extremity structures of the leg. We offer diagnosis and treatment of: ​

Symptoms of a foot or ankle condition 

If you experience any of the following symptoms, it may be time to make an appointment with your podiatrist:  

  • Thickening of the toenails 
  • Persistent pain in the feet and/or ankles 
  • Discoloration of the toenail or skin on your feet  
  • Pain, swelling or redness of the feet  
  • Fluids discharging from the feet  
  • ​ Foot and ankle symptoms that do not improve within two weeks of using non-prescription  products 

Will I need diagnostic testing? 

X-ray and MRI may be used to ensure an accurate diagnosis. These tests may also help determine the extent of an injury, arthritic changes, infection or bone disease. 

What are my treatment options? 

Every case is unique. Our team will collect and review all the details of your symptoms and then work with you to determine the best course of action. Treatment options may include: 

  • Medication  
  • Topical treatment  
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Caring for your feet 

Routine foot care plays a crucial role in preventing serious discomfort. Proper foot care consists of:  

  • ​Washing and rinsing feet thoroughly every day. 
  • Trimming nails straight across, not at an angle. This helps prevent ingrown toenails.  
  • Always wear clean socks or stockings. 
  • Always wear comfortable shoes.  
  • ​ Do not smoke or sit with your legs crossed. Doing so decreases blood supply to your feet.​
