Should I see a neurosurgeon or orthopaedic surgeon?

If you have a spine condition, you may be wondering if an orthopaedic spine surgeon or a neurosurgeon is right for you. For most types of spine care, both specially trained orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons may be considered.

 

In the past, neurosurgeons were primarily responsible for spine surgery. But, in the last 25 years, spine surgery has evolved so that both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons specialize in spine surgery, and both are now equally qualified for most of the typical spine operations.
