Outpatient Behavioral Health

If you are facing mental health issues, we offer a range of outpatient services that may help you. The Christ Hospital Health Network offers highly structured partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient group therapy programs for anyone 18 or older. Our outpatient programs are designed so you don’t have to put your life on hold during treatment.

We know therapy works better in a supportive group environment that promotes personal growth and understanding. Our groups focus on interpersonal skills, boundaries, coping skills, goal setting, distress tolerance, and value-based actions. You work with our staff and other patients to support one another and practice the coping skills necessary for your recovery.

Our program is designed to help people build a set of skills to acquire the strength to cope with their mental health issues. Many patients go through our program prior to individualized trauma treatment. We focus upon helping patients develop self-observation skills in a meaningful way while maintaining safety and stability.

Patients can expect:

  • Improved ability to manage day to day life

  • Improved ability to cope with problems

  • Reduction in distressing symptoms

We offer care for persons suffering with mental health and dual diagnoses, including:

  • Anxiety disorders

  • Mood disorders

  • Trauma and stress related disorders

  • Psychotic spectrum disorders

  • Personality disorders

Treatment

We offer several skills-based outpatient programs to ensure you are getting the right care, in the right place, at the right time—whether you are transitioning out of inpatient treatment, or you are receiving mental health therapy for the first time. To get the most out of outpatient treatment, it is important you attend all group sessions.

Physician referrals are not required, and we are considered in network with most major insurance providers. We can help you through the process of insurance verification and get you into our therapy programs quickly.

Primary group therapies include evidence-based treatments:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Family education and counseling

  • Medication management

  • Solution-focused therapy

  • Trauma-informed therapy

  • Wellness education

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our partial hospitalization program can be a step down from inpatient treatment or an alternative to inpatient care. Our program is offered as a group therapy day program in a relaxed, nonclinical setting for six hours a day, five days a week for two to three weeks. Lunch is provided during our day program.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our intensive outpatient program is for anyone who is experiencing mental health issues that need more support than traditional outpatient therapy typically provides. IOP will take place three and a half hours a day, three days a week for approximately four to six weeks.

How it Works

The first step is an assessment by a licensed mental health professional to determine the level of care you need—inpatient, partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient therapy. We recommend you bring a family member or a loved one to your evaluation and a list of all your current medications.

Immediately after the assessment, you will be scheduled with our psychiatric nurse practitioner for a health physical, including medical history. You will begin therapy the day after your appointment with the nurse practitioner.

Our group therapies are customized to your needs and the unique challenges you are facing. Our experienced team of mental health professionals will work with each group to personalize therapy. The interdisciplinary treatment team includes a psychiatric nurse practitioner, clinical psychologist, clinical social workers, registered nurse, practice coordinator, and psychology doctoral students. Our goal is to give you the tools to help you attain a meaningful and fulfilling life.
