Osteoporosis and bone health

Your bones are the framework of your life and are essential to every move you make. Osteoporosis - a disease that causes weak, thinning bones - can put you at risk for bone fragility and fractures, primarily of the hip, spine and wrist. Fifty percent of men and women are at risk for a fracture in their lifetime. That’s why taking care of your bones should be a priority, especially as you age.

The Bone Health Program at The Christ Hospital

Our comprehensive bone health program was designed to help you maintain strong bones and prevent fractures. From test to diagnosis and treatment, your care is managed by our team of bone health experts.

Individualized treatment plan

The bone health program begins with an initial evaluation with Dr. Sandra Eisele, MD. Your initial evaluation will include an in-depth review of your medical history, followed by a physical examination, with potential laboratory tests, x-rays, and bone density scan to follow. During your initial visit, Dr. Eisele will also discuss physical therapy, diet and nutrition, education on treatment options, and potential follow up visits. We have many convenient imaging centers available for our patients. Your physician may recommend that you have a DEXA scan, that measures your bone density. Find our DEXA scan locations here.
