At The Christ Hospital Spine Institute, we offer a multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosing and treating back and neck problems that is transforming the way spine care is delivered. From your very first phone call with a nurse navigator who specializes in spine conditions, you will be guided through the process of finding the physician best suited to meet your individual needs. Generally, you will be directed to an orthopaedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon who will coordinate your care, focusing on finding the most effective, and least invasive, treatment possible.
In 90% or more of cases, we are able to successfully treat your condition without the need for surgery. That’s because our team of orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons work together with interventional radiologists, pain management physicians and physical therapists to find the treatment that works for you.
If surgery is necessary, we use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to ensure a speedy and relatively pain free recovery. Our surgeons use the latest techniques with state-of-the-art equipment, such as the O-arm® Multidimensional Imaging System, which provides real-time, high-resolution 3-D images of the spine during surgery, and the Stealth Intra-operative Guidance System, which further enhances surgical precision. Continuous electrophysiological spinal cord and nervous system monitoring is also frequently used by our surgeons to protect against neural injury. Once surgery is complete, expert nursing care is provided on our dedicated orthopaedics and spine care unit.
