The Christ Hospital Pharmacy Residency - Residents
Read about our wonderful residents below!
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio Pharmacy School: University of Cincinnati, James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy Interests: I love to cook and read. My new favorite thing to do is attend Pure Barre classes- the only workout I have ever enjoyed! But the best part of my day is going home to my daughter and my husband. Why TCH? I have worked at TCH for the last 4 years as an inpatient pharmacy intern. TCH has an incredible group of pharmacy technicians, interns, and pharmacists to work with on a day-to-day basis. I was drawn to both the PGY1 and PGY2 program TCH has to offer. My clinical interest is in cardiology, and training at a hospital with robust cardiology services was a must. My favorite thing about this program was how welcoming all the preceptors were during both my interview and while on my APPE rotation. TCH was where I knew I could continue to grow as a pharmacist and as an individual. I am excited to see where this year takes me! Advice for students interested in pursuing a residency: Start preparing now! Begin to look at what programs you are interested in and why they interest you. Reach out to current residents or program directors with any questions you have. The application and interview process can seem overwhelming at first, so create a timeline and stick to it. When it comes to interview day, pay attention to how you feel during the entire interview day. Trust your gut! Where you feel most comfortable is where you should rank number 1. Lastly, trust the Match process. You will end up where you belong!
Hometown: Dhaka, Bangladesh Pharmacy School: University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy Interests: Digital painting, crocheting, crafting, baking, traveling, and trying food from different parts of the world Why TCH? When researching PGY-1 residency programs, I was impressed by the wide range of learning opportunities offered at TCH, including both ambulatory care and inpatient experiences, as well as the PGY2 pharmacy residency programs in Cardiology and Internal Medicine. One of the program's greatest strengths lies in its exceptional preceptors, who possess a wealth of knowledge and experience and are truly dedicated to the development of residents. I believe that this residency program will provide me with the well-rounded training I'm seeking, in a challenging yet supportive environment. I'm excited to begin this journey of personal and professional growth at TCH! Advice for students interested in pursuing a residency: ASHP’s Student Residency Resource Center is very helpful. Not sure what a pharmacy residency is, if you should do one or how to get started? Need help figuring out the application process and timeline? Want to learn more about CV development, interview prep, asking for a letter of recommendation, navigating PhORCAS? The Resource Center covers all of that and so much more.
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio Pharmacy School: University of Cincinnati Interests: Running, trying new recipes, and supporting local coffee shops. Why TCH? Witnessing the unity and closeness of the clinical staff during my interview and APPE experiences solidified TCH as part of my top residency choices. I appreciated that the program was associated with the local college of pharmacy, offered the clinical experiences I was seeking and would be close enough to home to maintain my family relationships. Advice for students interested in pursuing a residency: Imposter syndrome is real. Try not to compare or rank yourself against others applying. You each have unique experiences and backgrounds that will add value to your future clinical teams, don’t doubt that!
Hometown: West Harrison, Indiana Pharmacy School: The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy Interests: Coffee, Reading for fun (especially suspense/thrillers), Traveling, Breakfast food, Christmas Why TCH?: When researching PGY1 programs TCH originally caught my eye because of their Instagram page! I felt like this first point of contact allowed me to see into the program on a more casual level, and I really liked that they had “resident skip days” to support resident well-being. After meeting the current residents at the OPA Residency Showcase I could tell that they felt both supported and challenged by the staff and rotations at TCH. Later, at Midyear, Alissa remembered me and greeted me by name amongst thousands of residency candidates! I am very excited to look back in a year and see how much I have accomplished during my PGY1 at TCH! Advice for students interested in pursuing a residency: Update your CV regularly! Tell your APPE preceptors that you are pursing residency so they can help you get the most out of their rotation. Also, keep track of all the pharmacy interventions you make during your APPE year. This is a common interview question, and it will be so much easier to remember the amazing experiences you had, and things you learned in the heat of the moment if you have a running list.
