Nearly 3 out of 4 women in the United States will have uterine fibroids before the age of 50. Fibroids are benign growths in or around the uterus and are common in women of child-bearing age ranging in size from a grape to a grapefruit. Not all fibroids require treatment, and some patients can have them and not know it due to mild or no symptoms. The Christ Hospital Health Network now offers two new advanced treatments to help locate and treat uterine fibroids. These procedures are minimally invasive outpatient procedures that can protect the uterus while reducing the fibroids and related symptoms. This approach provides benefits for women seeking to maintain fertility and get back to life quickly due to little downtime.

Those surgeries required lengthy recoveries but now, with these new procedures, the average patient can return to regular activities in just two days.
