CINCINNATI (May 8, 2025) – Dean Kereiakes, MD, Chairman of The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute and Medical Director of the Christ Hospital Research Institute and Timothy Henry, MD, The Lindner Family Distinguished Endowed Chair in Clinical Research and Medical Director of the Lindner Research Center were honored recently by the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) for their outstanding service, leadership and contributions to patient care.
Dr. Kereiakes was honored with the Helping Hearts Lifetime Service Award. Established to recognize Fellows of SCAI who have provided long-standing and substantive service to the Society. The Award honors individuals who exemplify professional excellence, ethical leadership and a dedication to advancing interventional cardiology. Throughout his career, he has played a vital role in pioneering clinical research, leading FDA approval trials for more than 20 novel drugs and medical devices. A renowned interventional cardiologist with a record of more than 30,000 catheterization procedures, Dr. Kereiakes has dedicated himself to excellence in patient care, innovation, and mentorship.

To be recognized by my peers and cardiologists who have worked their entire lives to create better outcomes for heart patients means the world to me. Dr. Henry was honored with the F. Mason Sones, Jr., MD, FSCAI Distinguished Service Award. The award was named after one of SCAI’s founders and established in 2001 to recognize SCAI Fellows who have significantly enhanced the Society’s stature or made notable contributions. Dr. Henry received this distinction for his pioneering work in interventional cardiology, acute myocardial infarction treatment, and novel therapies for refractory angina. A past president of SCAI, Dr. Henry has been instrumental in leading large-scale research trials and implementing strategies to enhance patient care worldwide.

The work done by Dr. Kereiakes, myself and other award winners will save countless lives and help in our fight against heart disease nationwide.”
