CINCINNATI (September 29, 2025) – The Christ Hospital Health Network has been recognized as a Wellbeing First Champion for 2025 by ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare. As a Wellbeing First champion, The Christ Hospital has verified that clinical applications & credentialing applications are free from intrusive and stigmatizing language around mental healthcare and treatment. This means that health workers feel they can seek needed care without fear of losing their license or job.
Verification that all invasive or stigmatizing language around mental health has been removed from
applications is confirmed annually by ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare, a coalition of leading healthcare organizations, led by The Lorna Breen Foundation, that work to eliminate barriers for health workers to access mental health care.
“We are thrilled to be recognized as a champion for the wellbeing of our clinicians and team members,” said Ray Neltner, Manager of Physician & APP Engagement at The Christ Hospital Health Network. “In order to care for our patients and the community we work and live in, it is essential that we provide a healthy workplace environment for everyone and to remove invasive or stigmatizing language.”
The Christ Hospital Health Network also invests in various programs that promote mental health including our internal PEER support program, our Code Lavendar program and a partnership with Lindner Center of Hope to offer the Physician Mental Health Program- a confidential program for physicians and APPs for counseling and psychiatric treatment. Well-being CARE (Checkup and Referral Engagement) is a free anonymous self-reported questionnaire that is reviewed by a licensed mental health professional through Ohio Physician Help Program. Recommendations are then sent to the provider that filled out the form.
“Across the country, health workers are at an increased risk for burnout and mental health conditions,” said Corey Feist, co-founder of ALL IN: Wellbeing First for Healthcare and CEO of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation. “Many health workers feel they cannot speak up about their mental health without being criticized by colleagues or losing their jobs. Today, physicians and nurses die by suicide at two times the rate of the general population. We as a nation must better protect these lives, and I applaud our Wellbeing First Champions for their leadership to support the wellbeing of health workers.”
In addition to mental health support, Christopher Paprzycki, MD, physician at The Christ Hospital Health Network was recently named President of the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati. Dr. Paprzycki has pushed for more mental health services for physicians and APPs in the network.
"Burnout in the healthcare system is a real thing and it’s important that we provide services to support our team members that take care of our community every day,” Dr. Paprzycki said. "As president of the academy of medicine in Cincinnati, I work with thousands of doctors and APPs to promote wellness in the healthcare community, and I understand first-hand the importance of working towards making our workforce healthy.”
The Lorna Breen Foundation is an advocacy group at the institution, state & federal level working with state medical boards and fed government to pass legislation to remove outdated language from these application documents. The Christ Hospital Health Network received this status for the first time last year and renewed again this year.
