The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences Receives Grant to Expand Nursing Program

Grant Received from Ohio Board of Nursing

CINCINNATI, OH (November 19, 2025) — The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences, has been awarded a grant totaling more than $83,000 from the Ohio Board of Nursing through the Nursing Education Grant Program (NEGP). The purpose of this funding is to support prelicensure nursing education programs that increase student enrollment capacity and address the ongoing nursing shortage across the state.

The Christ College’s $83,201 grant proposal outlines the launch of a Night and Weekend Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 3-year degree. This new program is designed to expand access to nursing education by meeting the needs of non-traditional learners, including working adults, caregivers and career changers who are unable to attend traditional daytime programs. Classes will be held weekdays in the evening and on Saturdays.

By offering courses and clinical rotations during evenings and weekends, The Christ College is creating new opportunities for students to pursue their nursing degrees while continuing to meet work and family obligations. The innovative model also allows the College to maximize its use of existing facilities, classrooms and simulation labs, expanding capacity.

“We are deeply grateful to the Ohio Board of Nursing for supporting our mission to educate the next generation of compassionate, skilled nurses,” said Amy Wutke, Phd, President of The Christ College. “This funding allows us to meet students where they are—making nursing education more accessible while addressing the critical need for nurses in our community and across the state.”

Grant funds will be used to expand clinical partnerships and hire dedicated clinical faculty essential to the successful implementation of the program. This initiative directly supports the NEGP’s priorities of increasing nursing program enrollment, reducing barriers to clinical placement, and strengthening the overall nursing workforce pipeline in Ohio.

For more than a century, The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences has remained a trusted leader in healthcare education, preparing graduates who uphold The Christ Hospital Health Network’s tradition of clinical excellence and compassionate care.
