Our emergency facilities are designed to provide each patient with cutting-edge treatment and a comfortable experience. We specialize in emergency cardiac care and complex medical problems and we also care for most surgical, obstetric and psychiatric emergencies.
Two approaches to emergency care
To ensure that you receive the best and most efficient care during a medical emergency, The Christ Hospital has two emergency care areas that are tailored to each patient’s specific needs. Our highly experienced staff assess your medical needs upon arrival to select the appropriate care area for you:
Express Emergency Care
Our Express Emergency Care area is designed so that we may take care of your individual needs quickly and compassionately.
Patients experiencing the following maybe treated in this area:
Cold and flu symptoms
Sprains, strains and broken bones
Cuts, bumps and abrasions
Stitches and staples
Rashes
Sore throats and ear aches
Frequent and painful urination
Minor allergic reactions and asthma attacks
And other minor illnesses
You may remain in your regular clothes and will be seen by a designated team of emergency department staff.
Acute Emergency Care
Our Acute Emergency Care area is specially equipped to handle complicated illnesses and injuries that require more time to treat.
Patients experiencing the following maybe treated in this area:
Blackouts/loss of consciousness
Changes in mental status, such as confusion
Chest pain or pressure
Coughing or vomiting blood
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
Sudden dizziness, weakness or changes in vision
Sudden loss of coordination or problems with balance
Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
Sudden or severe pain
Sudden paralysis of leg, arm or face
Sudden trouble speaking or understanding speech
Uncontrolled bleeding
