Ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgeons (medical doctor and eye surgeon) of The Christ Hospital Health Network are board-certified ophthalmologists who specialize in the management of deformities and abnormalities of the eyelids, lacrimal (tear) system, orbit (eye socket), upper cheeks, brow and forehead.
Our specialists have also completed additional training in ophthalmic plastic surgery. This is plastic surgery that is limited to the structures surrounding the eye. Since this delicate surgery can affect one's ability to see, ophthalmic plastic surgeons are best qualified to perform it and also to provide any care that the eye itself may need. Conditions that may be treated through this service include:
Eyelid reconstruction - Repair of droopy upper lids (ptosis), in-turning or out-turning eyelids (entropion/ectropion), improving eyelid closure and reconstruction after skin cancer removal or trauma
Upper blepharoplasty – Correction of excessive skin on the upper eyelid that can interfere with peripheral vision
Orbital surgery- Surgical biopsy and management of tumors of the eyelid and other orbital cancers as well as repair of socket trauma
