CINCINNATI (August 1, 2023) – For the ninth consecutive year, The Christ Hospital has been named the number one hospital in the Cincinnati Region by U.S. News & World Report. For the 2023-2024 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions; only 12% of evaluated hospitals earned a Best Hospitals ranking. Hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.

“We are honored, once again, to be recognized as the best hospital in the Greater Cincinnati region for the ninth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report,” said Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “This distinction is made possible because of our dedicated team of physicians, clinicians, staff, and volunteers that continue to do everything it takes to provide the best care for every patient that comes to our network. We do not take this award for granted as we continue to improve on our exceptional clinical outcomes and experiences thereby improving the health of our community.”

In this year’s rankings, The Christ Hospital was the only network in the region named as a top 50 hospital in the country for orthopedics. Our specialists include fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic and spine surgeons with more than two decades of experience. Our nurses are specially trained in orthopedic care working with patients from their first appointment to post surgery. The Joint & Spine Center received the Joint Commission Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Knee Replacement, which shows a commitment to standardization by minimizing risk and providing exceptional outcomes to patients. This distinction comes after years of dedication by our orthopedic leadership team. The Christ Hospital is also home to experts specializing in all areas of orthopedics, including sports medicine, joint replacement, shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle, and spine.

“Our experienced medical team and clinical professionals has grown our orthopedic service line into one of the best in the nation,” said Michael Palmer, MD, FAAOS, FAOA, Medical Director of the Musculoskeletal Service Line at The Christ Hospital Health Network. “This award highlights the dedicated work by our entire team to fulfill the mission of The Christ Hospital in achieving excellent outcomes while providing world-class patient experience and care for our community in an affordable way.”

The Christ Hospital was also recognized in the Top 10% in the Region for the following areas: Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery, Urology, Geriatrics and Neurology & Neurosurgery

The Christ Hospital was also ranked as “High Performing” for the following procedures/conditions: aortic valve surgery, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, heart failure, hip replacement, kidney failure, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma, pneumonia, prostate cancer surgery and stroke.

This is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. Patients seeking specialized care in these fields can know they are getting some of the best, award-winning treatment in the region. The annual Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

The Christ Hospital was also recognized as the best heart hospital in the region and top 65 nationwide. This distinction comes as The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute expands its advanced heart failure care with a growing heart transplant, mechanical cardiac support and artificial heart programs.

“For 34 years, U.S. News has provided data-informed rankings to help patients and their doctors find the best hospital to treat their illness or condition,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “Fewer than half of evaluated hospitals earned any High Performing rating. Hospitals that are High Performing have excelled in providing high quality care in specific procedures and/or conditions.”
