You can help prevent or manage your cardiovascular disease. Being aware of your body and symptoms is just one step. While certain types of heart disease, such as heart defects, cannot be prevented, making lifestyle changes may help prevent future types of heart disease. Lifestyle changes that may help prevent other types of heart disease include:
• Not smoking
• Reducing and managing stress
• Staying physically active
• Eating healthy foods
• Maintaining a healthy weight
• Controlling conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
