Sam Hubbard and The Christ Hospital Health Network: Doing Everything it Takes for our Community to Thrive

Everything it Takes. When you’re pursuing a goal, it means you give full effort and explore every possible option until you succeed. For a professional football player like Cincinnati’s own Sam Hubbard, that means rigorous year-round training and leaving it all on the field with his teammates in pursuit of victory. For a trusted healthcare provider like The Christ Hospital Health Network, it means every team member coming together to provide compassionate, personalized care using the latest in medical technologies to improve the health of our patients.

The Christ Hospital Health Network shares a common goal with Sam – to make Greater Cincinnati a better place to work, live, and grow, which is why we’re proud to announce a partnership with Sam to work together toward making that happen.

Leading the way in serving Greater Cincinnati

“We are working with Sam because he is a role model to do everything it takes to make this community a better place,” says Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “Many of us have watched Sam grow up, both as a student at Moeller High School and at The Ohio State University. He has grown up to be a leader for children and a role model who embodies what it means to give back to your community.”

Sam’s commitment to philanthropy and serving his hometown is evidenced by his charitable giving and work through The Sam Hubbard Foundation. The foundation contributes to the health, nutritional needs, and education of Greater Cincinnati through programs such as:

  • Hubbard’s Cupboards, and other efforts which provide school supplies and food to children in need at select Greater Cincinnati schools

  • Events such as The Sam Hubbard Youth Football Camp at his alma mater, Moeller High School, to promote health and wellness for young athletes and other local children

  • The donation of thousands of meals to the Freestore Foodback to support their mission to feed people in need throughout Greater Cincinnati

  • Events and drives during the holidays to help spread the joy of the season to the community by providing holiday meals and opportunities to shop for gifts to families in need

Strong ties and a shared commitment to our community

The roots between Sam, his family, and Greater Cincinnati extend to The Christ Hospital Health Network. He was born at The Christ Hospital and his mom graduated from nursing school at The Christ College of Nursing where she was president of her class.

“I’m partnering with The Christ Hospital Health Network because I was born here, my mother went to nursing school here, I’ve had countless friends and family who have received care here, and I love what they do with community outreach and taking care of Greater Cincinnati,” Sam says. “I think that’s really important and I’m very excited to work together.”

The team at The Christ Hospital Health Network improves the lives of our community through a commitment to deliver the best in care that has helped us to be named by U.S. News & World Report as the top hospital in Greater Cincinnati for nine straight years.

Our service to Greater Cincinnati is backed by the Christ Hospital Foundation and their generous supporters who fund programs that drive innovative treatments and clinical research while striving to make healthcare accessible to our community. They also partner on community-wide efforts such as Project Heart ReStart, and its goal to equip every police cruiser in Hamilton County with a lifesaving AED.

Celebrating the service and commitment of our team members

We are especially proud of the employees of The Christ Hospital Health Network who model our mission and values, as well as the example set forth by Sam, especially those who serve our community through voluntary efforts such as:

  • Strong participation in our annual IGiVE campaign, which provides financial support to patients and our employees in need, as well as contributions to community organizations such as the United Way and ArtsWave

  • Team participation in community events such as the Heart Mini Marathon, the ArtsWave Battle of the Bands, and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women, not to mention countless other events such as walks and 5Ks to raise funds and awareness to improve the health of our community

  • Organizing collection drives for items such as blankets, books, cereal and more to support our patients, local schools, and people in need throughout Greater Cincinnati

  • Employees who have served together on mission trips to provide outreach and assistance to communities in need outside of Greater Cincinnati

  • Team members who collectively complete an act of community service each month to both give back and strengthen their team bonds

  • Planning and hosting community events in support of our patients such as an annual cancer survivorship program

Throughout the season, Sam will help celebrate team members at The Christ Hospital Health Network who go above and beyond their job and live the mission of doing “Everything It Takes”. To kick off the partnership, nearly 30 team members were asked to participate in a video shoot where they got the chance to meet Sam and star with him in several videos for social media, and a 30-second commercial highlighting their efforts to make Greater Cincinnati a better place to live, work and grow.
