Critical Care Nurse Residency Program

The Critical Care Nurse Residency Program is offerered three times a year: February, June and September. 

This program, offered at The Christ Hospital, is designed to prepare graduate RNs to function confidently and efficiently in critical care units. We provide an opportunity to  practice clinical skills, care for several diverse patient populations, and gain an appreciation for the special interaction between critically ill patients and their families within this program.   

Requirements:                                          

  • RNs must have less than 12 months of nursing experience or be a new graduate to enter this program.  

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred (A or B in nursing core classes). 

  • RN licensure from the state of Ohio must be obtained two weeks after residency start date.

Oncology Nurse Residency Program

The Oncology Nurse Residency Program is offered all year long. 

This program, offered at The Christ Hospital, is designed to prepare graduate RNs to function confidently and efficiently in oncology settings. We provide an opportunity to practice clinical skills, care for several diverse patient populations, and gain an appreciation for the special interaction between oncology patients a​nd their families within this program. A few specific content topics of this program include pharmacology, chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, side effects and complication management, patient and family education and end-of-life care.              

Requirements:     

  • RNs must have less than six months of oncology nursing experience. New graduates are encouraged to apply. 

  • GPA of 3.0 is preferred (A or B in nursing core classes).

Experienced Nurses

Nurses with 1+ years of inpatient med/surg experience can apply year round for our residency programs that provide training for you to specialize your nursing career in the field of oncology or critical care. Operating Room Nurse Residency Program

The OR Nurse Residency Program (ORNRP) gives you the opportunity to train with the best in surgical quality. The ORNRP provides training for new graduate nurses interested in specializing in perioperative nursing. Our 10-week program provides didactic classroom-based instruction utilizing an evidence-based core curriculum and hands-on learning in the operating room.  

Requirements: 

  • RNs must have less than 12 months of nursing experience or be a new graduate to enter this program.                     

  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 is preferred (A or B in nursing core classes).                   

  • RN licensure from the State of Ohio must be obtained two weeks after residency start date.

Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) Nurse Residency Program

The Medical/Surgical Nurse Residency Program is offered multiple times per year. 

This program, offered at The Christ Hospital, is designed to prepare graduate RNs to function confidently and efficiently in medical surgical units.  We provide an opportunity to practice clinical skills,  care for several diverse patient populations and gain an appreciation for the special interaction between patients and their families within this program. This six-week program includes classes and tests, simulations and clinical time on your unit. You would also have an additional preceptor based orientation on your unit.

Requirements:

  • RNs must have less than 12 months of nursing experience or be a new graduate to enter this program.

  • RN licensure from the state of Ohio must be obtained two weeks after residency start date.

The Perinatal Nurse Residency Program is offered four times a year.  

This program, offered at The Christ Hospital, is designed to prepare new graduate and experienced RNs to function confidently and efficiently in perinatal units.  We provide an opportunity to practice clinical skills,  care for several diverse patient populations and gain an appreciation for the special interaction between various perinatal patients and their families within this program.
