National Leadership in Radiosurgery Care
We are working to transform your cancer care. We are one of six hospitals nationwide—and the first in the Tri-State area—to offer stereotactic radiosurgery. This high-precision, noninvasive cancer treatment helps us target the most difficult-to-treat tumors.
Overview
Stereotactic radiosurgery, also called Edge™ radiosurgery, uses image guidance to quickly and accurately deliver high-intensity radiation therapy. It can treat tumors anywhere in your body. But it is most often used to target tumors in the brain, lung, prostate, or spine.
This treatment requires no incision. With sessions that last between 30 and 60 minutes, it delivers cancer treatment faster than CyberKnife or Gamma Knife techniques. As a result, it destroys cancer cells while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
We offer this therapy at The Christ Hospital Cancer Center in Mt. Auburn.
