Palliative Care Treatment
If you’re being treated for a serious illness, our palliative care team works alongside your primary medical team to ensure you have the best possible quality of life. We also help match your treatment choices to your goals, giving you more control over your care.
A Caring Team By Your Side
Our palliative care team includes:
- Doctors
- Advanced practice nurses
- Pharmacists
- Social workers
- Chaplains
How Can Palliative Care Help Me and My Family?
The first step we take is getting to know you and your family. After talking with your doctor and reviewing your medical records, we’ll meet with you and your family to better understand your needs and goals for care.
From there, we’ll recommend a tailored care plan. We’ll discuss each step with you so you can make informed choices about our services:
- Pain and symptom control—including issues such as breathing, fatigue, depression, insomnia and constipation.
- Communication and coordination with your other doctors—setting goals of care and helping with decision-making to ensure your needs are fully met.
- Emotional support—with a focus on the entire person, not just the illness, addressing practical, emotional and spiritual stresses.
- Family and caregiver support—focused attention to find extra support and help ease some of the strain.
How Can I Get Palliative Care?
You may request palliative care through The Christ Hospital Health Network if you’re staying in one of our hospitals or receiving cancer treatment at one of our outpatient clinics. Call us at 513-585-0177 or ask any member of your care team to help you schedule a consultation.
Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, cover palliative care. Our financial counselors can help you understand your insurance benefits and the costs of your care.
