Your Scholarly Activity Options
You'll choose from a wide range of opportunities to fulfill your residency training requirements. Here's what's available.
Project Abstracts
You can submit an abstract, such as a clinical vignette, quality improvement project, or case report, to a regional or national conference, including the American College of Physicians (ACP).
ACP Conference
Our residents have a strong acceptance rate for submitted abstracts. Second-year residents traditionally attend the ACP Ohio chapter's fall conference. First-year residents are encouraged to identify a compelling case to submit by the end of their first academic year.
Journal Club
Second- and third-year residents review and present a paper relevant to their specialty of interest, building a stronger understanding of biostatistics and the strengths and limitations of research.
Morning Report
Monday through Friday, all residents on the internal medicine team rotations attend morning report. Monday and Wednesday mornings feature presentations by overnight or daytime resident teams. Friday mornings are reserved for cardiology conference, where cardiologists and residents on cardiology rotations present relevant cases.
Grand Rounds
One Thursday morning each month, all residents participate in grand rounds. One or two second-year residents present an interesting case with a focus on differential diagnosis and evidence-based management.
Academic Half Day
Residents take part in formal academic lectures led by core faculty. The series covers 48 weeks of curriculum across every area of internal medicine.
