Robot-Assisted Surgery Creates Better Outcomes and Shorter Hospital Stays
CINCINNATI (July 7, 2026) – The Christ Hospital Health Network expands its offerings in state-of-the-art, minimally invasive robotic surgery by adding a new Da Vinci 5 robot. The new Vinci 5 robot expands access to advanced minimally invasive surgical care and creates better outcomes for surgical patients in the region.
The Da Vinci 5 robot, developed by Intuitive, has uses for a number of cardiovascular, colon and rectal, urologic, and general surgeries. Through its advanced minimally invasive surgical program, physicians at The Christ Hospital have performed nearly 17,000 robotic-assisted surgical procedures. We’re also continuing to expand robotic surgery access to The Christ Hospital Medical Center in Liberty Township.
Benefits to using robot-assisted surgery include
- Smaller incisions, less scarring, lower hernia rate
- Significantly reduced pain and risk of infection
- Reduced need for prescription pain medication
- Minimal blood loss
- Shorter hospital stays and earlier return to normal activities
- Optimal clinical outcomes
The Da Vinci 5 robot is part of The Christ Hospital’s esteemed fleet of robotic systems. These systems are integral to performing a wide range of complex surgeries across various specialties, all controlled by skilled surgeons at console workstations that offer enhanced visualization and maneuverability beyond human capability.
