Project Heart ReStart Donated 90 AEDs to Law Enforcement Agencies in Butler County.
CINCINNATI (July 29, 2026) – The Christ Hospital Health Network, together with Mercy Health, UC Health, TriHealth, Premier Health, the Medical Staff of Mercy Fairfield, Kettering Health, Cintas, Zoll Medical, and the Rotary Clubs of Cincinnati, Fairfield, Oxford, and Middletown donated 90 Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) to law enforcement agencies in Butler County. In total, $175,500 was raised as part of Phase Six of Project Heart ReStart.
The donation event was held on Wednesday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fairfield Community Arts Center located at 411 Wessel Drive in Fairfield. Speakers included Steve King, Chair of the Project Heart ReStart Committee, Chief Pat Carr, President of Butler County Chiefs of Police Association and others.
Project Heart ReStart began supplying AEDs in law enforcement vehicles in 2023 shortly after the Damar Hamlin cardiac arrest in Cincinnati. In Phase I of Project Heart ReStart, the committee, along with Rotary Club of Cincinnati, Zoll, Cintas, Hamilton County Commissioners, all Cincinnati-based hospital systems and community donors, raised $260,000 to purchase 130 AEDs for all deputy cruisers for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Through six phases of Project Heart ReStart, the committee has raised more than $1 million to purchase almost 634 AEDs in Hamilton, Butler and Clermont counties in Ohio, Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Pendleton, Grant, Mason, Robertson and Gallatin counties in Kentucky with the addition of Ripley and Franklin counties in Indiana. Having an AED for our first responders on the scene of a cardiac event increases the survival rate from 10% to 40%.
