CINCINNATI (July 8, 2026) – The Christ Hospital Health Network and Joseph-Beth Booksellers invites employees, patients, visitors and the community to support local students through a Buy a Book, Give a Book campaign.
Customers can participate at the Joseph-Beth Gift Shop in The Christ Hospital in Mt. Auburn from July 14-16. For each book purchased during this time, another book will be included in a backpack distributed through United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s Backpacks for Success initiative.
Each year, United Way collects and assembles backpacks full of supplies for thousands of students throughout Greater Cincinnati. Thanks to this new partnership, donated books will add an extra opportunity for learning and imagination, helping students build excitement for the school year ahead.
"We know that when students have the tools they need to learn, they're better prepared to succeed on the first day of school and throughout the year," said Moira Weir, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Cincinnati. "We're grateful to The Christ Hospital Health Network and Joseph-Beth for creating this opportunity for employees, patients and visitors to support local students. Partnerships like this show what's possible when organizations across our community come together to invest in the next generation."
The Christ Hospital Health Network has a longstanding relationship with United Way of Greater Cincinnati through employee workplace giving, volunteerism and leadership. Debbie Hayes, President & CEO at The Christ Hospital Health Network, serves as Vice Chair of United Way’s Board of Directors, reinforcing the shared commitment to strengthening the region.
“At The Christ Hospital Health Network, one way we ensure our community is thriving is by working with partners like United Way and Joseph-Beth to invest in children and families,” said Hayes. “Backpacks for Success allows our employees, patients and visitors to support children by beginning the school year with confidence and onto the path for future success. We’re proud to partner with Joseph-Beth and United Way to create opportunities that help young people thrive.”
Backpacks will be distributed at back-to-school events throughout the area in July and August. United Way’s goal is to provide backpacks to 3,550 students this summer.
