The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Team is pleased to announce the addition of Saad Hasan, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, who joins The Christ Hospital Health Network to serve cardiac patients and complete this group of tenured physicians and surgeons.

“I am excited to join the team and help advance the cardiac care of this region,” said Dr. Hasan, who graduated from Washington University, attended Cornell Medical School in New York City, and joins us after a six-year cardiothoracic residency program at the Cleveland Clinic. “Spending six years with the world experts gave me a unique breadth and depth of experience in cardiovascular surgery compared to training at a smaller program.”

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Saad Hasan to Christ Hospital and to Cincinnati,” says Dr. Geoff Answini, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at The Christ Hospital, who adds they recruited Dr. Hasan from the top training program in the nation, the Cleveland Clinic, and that his reputation and training align well with the quality of care The Christ Hospital provides. “He shows the potential to be at the level of the cardiothoracic surgeons we have now who are nationally renowned and thought to be leaders in the field,” he says. “And most importantly, he is a great fit for our culture. He is kind, compassionate, down to earth, and deeply cares for his patients and the services he provides.”

As a third-generation cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Hasan follows the legacy of his grandfather, a military physician in World War II who later practiced thoracic and closed-heart surgeries in Pakistan, and his father, who practiced in Charleston, West Virginia, after a fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.

“I selected cardiothoracic as one of my medical school rotations, mainly because my Dad was always telling me about it,” said Dr. Hasan. “But it was after I saw an aortic dissection that I became truly excited about the possibility and decided to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery.”

Dr. Hasan is gratified to join the well-respected, world-class team at Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Center and to provide patients with the best in care. “Christ Hospital is highly regarded for great outcomes on highly complex cardiac problems,” he said. “But I was really struck by how supportive my senior partners are and how much they are invested in developing me as a surgeon. It has been an amazing first couple of weeks and it really is the perfect fit.” He looks forward to learning from these well-respected physicians and helping to advance healthcare in the community and beyond.
