CINCINNATI – The Christ Hospital Health Network has been recognized for its dedication to patient safety by being awarded a grade of “A” in the Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade Report, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.
An ‘A’ grade is one of the most meaningful honors a hospital can achieve, and one of the most valuable indicators for patients looking for a safe place to receive care. The Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit.
“Receiving Leapfrog’s ‘A’ grade is evidence of our team’s commitment to patient safety and the provision of care following the most rigorous safety protocols,” said Debbie Hayes, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network. “I’m proud of each of our team members who work to demonstrate, day after day, their commitment to the safety of our patients. All of those efforts ensure that we fulfill our mission of improving the health of our community and providing value to patients as a result of their exceptional clinical outcomes coupled with the finest experiences no matter where care is delivered across our network.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. More than 2,900 hospitals were assessed for these grades.
