Including Family in Your Care
With you and your family, and all patients and their families, we strive to meet four core concepts of patient- and family-centered care.
Dignity and Respect
We listen to and honor your and your family’s perspectives and choices. We incorporate patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural backgrounds into our planning and delivery of patient care.
Information Sharing
We communicate and share complete and unbiased information with patients and their families in ways that are affirming and useful.
You and your family receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order to effectively participate in care and decision-making.
Participation
We encourage and support you and your family in your care and decision-making, at the level you choose.
Collaboration
We ask patients and families for their valuable input regarding our hospital’s design; educational materials; and program and project development, implementation, and evaluation.
We have eliminated restrictions on visiting hours in most areas of the hospital to help families stay close to their loved ones. When possible, families may remain with you in emergency situations and in your recovery room.
Your family may also participate in discussions with physicians and hospital staff during rounds, and be part of the decision-making process.
