Weiping Zang, MD, PhD, completed her primary and secondary schooling in China. She received her medical degree from Shandong Medical University in Jinan, China and her doctorate from Peking University in Beijing.
After completing her residency in internal medicine at Peking University in Beijing, Dr. Zang was a faculty member at the Department of Hematology at Qingdao University Hospital in Qingdao, China for three years. She then followed her passion for research as a research fellow at Mount Sinai Medical Center for seven years in New York City.
Following her work as a research fellow, Dr. Zang completed a second residency in internal medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. While there, she was named the winner of the Ambulatory Care Award by the Department of Medicine. Dr. Zang then moved on to a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Dr. Zang has published extensively in research journals on topics including genetic implications in oncology and bone marrow transplant. She has also been a frequent presenter of abstracts at global and national conferences including the World Transplant Congress, American Society of Nephrology and American Transplant Congress.
Dr. Zang is dual board certified in internal medicine; with a subcertification in Medical Oncology. Her special interests include general oncology and hematology, more specifically in breast and lung cancers as well as hematology .
