I started my nursing career in critical care and have always been intrigued by the management of complex and chronic diseases, as well as health promotion and disease prevention. It was in critical care that I discovered how many patients are dealing with chronic diseases that require extensive knowledge, education, and support to manage. These patients led me to my career as a nurse practitioner. I enjoy building trusting relationships with my patients to help them navigate their acute and chronic illnesses and provide them with the knowledge they need to feel empowered and in control of their health. Alyssa enjoys cake decorating and spending time with her husband and children.
