Ankit Patel, MD, is a board-certified physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians who specializes in Interventional Pain Management through The Christ Hospital’s Interventional Spine Program at the Joint & Spine Center in Mt. Auburn.
Dr. Patel was driven to pursue a career in medicine by the combination of science and service. “I’m not only drawn to the intellectual challenge, but also to the responsibility, empathy, and trust that come with caring for others,” he says. “I find a lot of motivation from the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives during some of their most vulnerable moments.”
He applies that combination of clinical excellence and compassion to a patient-centered approach to care. “I try to listen closely, respect each patient’s values and concerns, and involve them in decisions about their care,” he says. “I also focus on teamwork and evidence-based practice so I can provide safe, effective, and individualized care.” He encourages his patients to be engaged in their care and to take an active role by asking questions and being honest about symptoms and concerns.
Dr. Patel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Michigan and his Medical Degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami and a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Henry Ford Health System.
He is certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology and he is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
His family is the center of Dr. Patel’s life, and when not providing care, he values time spent with them. He also enjoys sports, both as a fan and as a participant, to help him stay active and maintain a healthy balance so he can continue to bring positive energy into his work.
