Sam Kroger, CNP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner with The Christ Hospital Physicians – Primary Care, who specializes in internal medicine and provides care for patients 18 and older at the Anderson location.
Sam began her career as a registered dietitian, where she saw firsthand how nutrition can impact health, but she also recognized a gap between the prioritization of medical treatment and nutritional care. She was inspired to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner by the opportunity to integrate nutritional science into patient care for a more holistic and preventative approach to health.
She places the patient at the center of a well-rounded approach to providing care, with a goal of empowering each patient to fully maximize their own outcomes. “My approach combines clinical expertise with compassionate communication, ensuring that patients feel heard, respected, and involved in their care decisions,” Sam says. “This includes a strong emphasis on education and preventive care to help them make informed choices that support long-term well-being.”
Sam advocates for her patients to be kind and patient with themselves during their health journey. “Healing—whether physical or emotional—is rarely linear, and progress often comes in small, meaningful steps,” she says. “When you approach the journey with enthusiasm and grace, you’re more likely to stick to your goals and see lasting change.”
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
In her free time, Sam enjoys staying active and spending quality time with loved ones. “Staying active is an important part of how I recharge,” she says. She especially enjoys walks with her dog, playing tennis, lifting weights, and bike riding, though she also appreciates downtime activities such as hanging at the pool or enjoying tacos with family and friends.
