Tamara Copeland, MD, is a family medicine physician with The Christ Hospital Physicians Primary Care. She provides comprehensive medical care for patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. She has a strong interest in women's health and caring for patients experiencing obesity.
Dr. Copeland began her long career in medicine as a certified nursing assistant and later as a radiologic technologist. That path led her to earn her medical degree and practice family medicine. I have been interested in medicine as early as I can remember, Dr. Copeland says. I have always wanted to help and care for people. Those childhood dreams were supported and encouraged by family and friends.
With a focus on wellness and disease prevention, Dr. Copeland encourages all her patients to keep up with their recommended screenings and check-ups. These tests and exams are helpful in identifying health concerns early on when there are more treatment options, Dr. Copeland says. I try to educate patients and practice shared decision-making.
Dr. Copeland graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, with a bachelor's degree in cardiac ultrasound and an associate degree in radiological sciences. She completed medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine, and her internship and residency at Union Hospital in Terra Haute, Indiana. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Copeland enjoys traveling and visiting her family. She also enjoys boating, camping, Zumba and singing.

DR Copeland was and has been very helpful with my condition.
I asked about a referral for a chronic condition and felt very much "brushed off" by the response. I was told, "they won't do anything I'm not already doing." There was not guidance provided regarding restricted activities, recommended lifestyle changes, or other advice on navigating recent diagnosis of DVT. I understand there will be a need for a change in prescription after three weeks. Instead of entering the prescription request, she asked me to call the office to request that when the time got closer.
Dr. Copeland pointed out past medicines that did not work for me in the past , reminding me of problems and issues and saved me a lot of time from being taken out of my life for a productive life moving forward in this medicine change . I'm very Grateful for having Dr.Copeland as my Primary Care Physician
