Trevor W. Wilkes, MD

Dr. Trevor Wilkes is a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder & elbow surgery and sports medicine. After graduating from Davidson College in North Carolina, Dr. Wilkes earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine in Lexington. He performed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he won the resident teacher award twice. He also completed a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at the Cincinnati Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center.

Dr. Wilkes maintains a professional interest in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, total and reverse shoulder arthroplasty, and joint preservation with cartilage and meniscus restoration. He's also served as team physician for numerous high school and college programs, and the Kansas City Royals minor league team. He currently serves as the Team Physician for Nagel Middle School. Shortly after he began practicing, Dr. Wilkes won the Lexington Clinic Horizon Award for Best Young Physician. He's very active in his field, having written book chapters, published numerous papers in prestigious orthopaedic journals, and presented research at national conferences.

In his spare time, Dr. Wilkes enjoys traveling and being outdoors with his wife - a pediatrician, their three children and two Labrador retrievers. He's been an instructor for skiing, rock climbing, and kayaking, a certified personal trainer, and is a competitive triathlete and five-time half-Ironman finisher.
