Daniel J. Pelchovitz, MD, FACC, FHRS, is Heart and Vascular Service Line Medical Director at The Christ Hospital Heart & Vascular Institute and a nationally recognized cardiac electrophysiologist who has helped transform heart rhythm care across Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. He specializes in diagnosing and treating abnormal heart rhythms, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia and other complex arrhythmias.
Dr. Pelchovitz provides comprehensive heart rhythm care, from advanced evaluation and monitoring to complex catheter ablation procedures and the implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators. Known for his calm, approachable manner, Dr. Pelchovitz takes time to listen, answer questions and make sure patients understand their condition and treatment options. He works with each patient to understand how their condition is affecting their health and daily life and determine the most appropriate treatment. His goal is not only to control an abnormal heart rhythm but, when possible, to eliminate it and help patients return to the activities they enjoy.
During five years as medical director of the Electrophysiology Program, Dr. Pelchovitz led its rapid expansion and helped establish The Christ Hospital as a regional destination for advanced heart rhythm care. His leadership culminated in the opening of a nearly 30,000-square-foot facility recognized as one of the most advanced EP labs in the country. The facility combines advanced 3D cardiac mapping with a hybrid operating room, helping physicians locate arrhythmias more precisely, reduce procedure time and radiation exposure, and collaborate quickly on complex or high-risk cases. For patients, this means access to an experienced team, leading-edge technology and advanced treatments for atrial fibrillation and other complex arrhythmias—all in one location. Dr. Pelchovitz has also authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications.
A Cincinnati native and graduate of Sycamore High School, Dr. Pelchovitz earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry through the University of Michigan Honors Program. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowships in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Northwestern University. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Dr. Pelchovitz was drawn to electrophysiology because many heart rhythm disorders that affect patients for years can now be successfully treated—and, in some cases, eliminated. He enjoys caring for patients of all ages and is proud to bring advanced electrophysiology care to his hometown. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, listening to music and playing ice hockey.
