Position Statement and Program Overview
The purpose of the PGY1 pharmacy residency program at The Christ Hospital is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
The resident will be an integral part of the medication use process. The residency will serve to help the resident develop a secure understanding of the clinical, distributive, and administrative aspects of the practice of pharmacy. Through a variety of advanced practice experiences, the resident will gain confidence to effectively function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The program will focus on developing and refining the resident’s clinical, writing, presentation, teaching, research, and leadership skills.

Pharmacy Residency Application
The Christ Hospital residency program participates in the ASHP Resident Matching Program and utilizes the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS). Applicants to the PGY-1 Residency Program are required to provide the following through PhORCAS:
Letter of intent
Basic demographic information
Three references on standardized reference template in PhORCAS
Supplemental materials required by The Christ Hospital:
Applicant Eligibility Criteria:
Graduate of an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy degree program
Licensed, or eligible for licensure, in the state of Ohio
Meets criteria for employment at The Christ Hospital including a negative drug and nicotine screen
US citizen or legal resident
