Deciding to have a baby is a big decision. When it comes to where you'll deliver, The Christ Hospital makes the choice easy. The Christ Hospital Health Network has been recognized by Newsweek in their list of the Best Maternity Hospitals of 2025 and by the Women's Choice Award as one of America's Best Hospitals for Obstetrics in 2025. The labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care you receive at their birthing centers is exceptional. Families can choose delivery services at their Liberty Township and Mt. Auburn birthing centers, and exciting updates are underway at the Mt. Auburn location. I reached out to Charla Payne, Director of Nursing, Women’s Health and Newborn Services, to learn more.
A team-focused approach to care
There are so many incredible features at the main campus birthing center in Mt. Auburn, but Charla says the greatest strength is its people. She explained, “The most incredible thing that we have is a team that is truly honored and humbled to care for families during their birth experiences. Whether you have a vaginal delivery, a C-section or are part of a surrogacy situation or adoption, we are here to ensure that you feel safe, are part of a shared decision-making model and have a wonderful experience with the highest quality of care. Our team is a family. We spend a lot of time together and the relationships between our nursing team and physicians and midwives is extremely important to all of us. We work collaboratively to ensure a safe and memorable experience for you, and we truly love what we do!”
Growth and continued excellence
In addition to updates within their birthing centers, The Christ Hospital is experiencing significant growth. Charla said, “We have had several new providers join our team, both physician and midwives, that have brought us many patients. Our Level III NICU is now well established, and that capability has also increased our overall patient population. We are very committed to ensuring that, despite the increase in deliveries, we will not compromise our quality of care or patient experience.”
Exciting upgrades for expecting families
The expansion also brings several enhancements designed to make the birth experience even better. Charla said she is excited to welcome more patients into the department and be part of some of the most important days of their lives. Improvements include the addition of labor tubs, new labor beds, more spacious rooms and updated postpartum and NICU areas. According to Charla, there is not a single part of the obstetrics space that is not being improved.
