Surgeries we perform

The board-certified general surgeons at The Christ Hospital Health Network are skilled in both conventional surgery techniques and advanced minimally invasive approaches to evaluate, diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions.

We offer:

  • Gallbladder surgery—removing the gallbladder. This is a small pear-shaped sac located beneath the liver and is the most common treatment for gallbladder disorders like inflammation and pain from gallstones.

  • Appendectomy—removing the appendix. This is a short tube of tissue that extends from the first part of the large intestine and is the most common treatment to prevent rupture and sepsis when the appendix is infected.

  • Hernia repair—repairs a weak spot in the layers of your belly wall that allows an organ or fatty tissue to bulge out of your belly wall. The procedure is done many ways with traditional open surgery or a minimally invasive options depending on your treatment needs and may require mesh to implanted.

  • Antireflux/Hiatal Hernia Surgery—repairs a hiatal hernia which is an opening in the diaphragm muscle that permits the stomach to bulge into the chest causing reflux, heartburn, ulcers and swallowing problems. This procedure incorporates a stomach wrap to eliminate reflux.

  • Colon surgery—removes a diseased portion of the colon usually a cancerous mass or diverticulitis. The procedure can be done in a traditional open surgery or may involve a minimally invasive approach. Both methods utilize an enhanced recovery pathway for an improved/quicker recovery and shorter hospital stay.

  • Skin and soft tissue biopsy—removes skin and fatty tissue that is suspicious for cancer and helps determine if further treatment is necessary. Also removes benign cysts and fatty tumors that can cause infection and/or pain. Sometimes these procedures can be performed in an office setting.

  • Acute Care Surgery—in an emergency situation, our team of surgeons are available for immediate surgical care when time and experience matter the most.
