Shoulder care at The Christ Hospital Cincinnati Ohio

Shoulder care

We use our shoulders all day long to help us lift, reach, push, pull and rotate our arms. As the most flexible joint in the body, the shoulder gives us arm strength and a wide range of motion. However, this amount of flexibility also means the shoulder joint can become unstable and prone to injury.

The shoulder is a complex, ball-and-socket joint. It’s made up of the upper arm bone (humerus), shoulder blade (scapula), collarbone (clavicle) and surrounding ligaments, cartilage, muscles and tendons.

Shoulder problems can be caused by various conditions such as arthritis, joint instability, inflammation or a dislocation. If you have shoulder pain and weakness, it can be difficult to enjoy everyday life. Whether you like to cook, play a sport, garden or just want to move through life without pain, the orthopedic surgeons and specialists at The Christ Hospital Health Network want to get back to your normal routine as quickly as possible.

We diagnose and treat a wide range of shoulder conditions. In many cases, we can treat shoulder problems without surgery. If you require surgery, we offer the latest advanced treatment options to help you feel better.
