Nutrition Counseling at The Christ Hospital Health Network

Several chronic health conditions can be triggered by what you eat. You can often improve your condition and overall health by changing your diet. And you don’t have to do it alone.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a condition tied to what you eat, the nutrition counseling program at The Christ Hospital Health Network can help you make the right changes to your diet and lifestyle so you can feel better and prevent complications.

Registered dietitians specializing in nutrition-related disease management

Our team of specialized registered dietitians is known for helping patients with diabetes manage their condition. But we’re also experts in evaluating the nutrition needs of patients with other health conditions such as:
  • High blood pressure

  • High cholesterol

  • Kidney disease

  • Obesity

Nutrition counseling can help you manage your condition with diet changes, possibly lessening your need for prescription medicines. We’re firm believers that better health begins with a better diet and healthy lifestyle changes.

Why choose The Christ Hospital Health Network

Our nutrition counseling program provides personalized, expert nutrition advice. Our approach to care will help you manage your condition more efficiently because it tackles a major factor of your disease — an unhealthy diet.

In addition to offering personalized nutrition counseling, we’re dedicated to making the process as easy as possible for you by offering both in-person and telemedicine (phone or video) appointments, Monday through Friday, with evening hours available.

Your first appointment with us

During your first nutrition counseling appointment, our registered dietitians will thoroughly review your diet, exercise and medication history. This allows us to create a tailored nutrition plan for you and to recommend other lifestyle changes that will further boost your health.

Your first visit with us is typically an hour long — additional visits are scheduled as needed and may last 30 to 60 minutes.

Before your first appointment, we encourage you to contact your insurance carrier to confirm your medical nutrition therapy benefits. Nutrition counseling is billable to insurance, but coverage varies. We offer a discount to anyone who chooses to self-pay.

A written referral is required before scheduling your first appointment. Ask the provider who treats your nutrition-related condition for a referral to the nutrition counseling program at The Christ Hospital.
