Hometown: Florence, Kentucky
Pharmacy School: University of Cincinnati
PGY1 Residency: UC Health – West Chester Hospital
Interests: I love to travel! If I have even just a three day weekend I try to take advantage of it and explore a new place. I also enjoy hiking, biking, and trying new foods. Recently, my husband and I make it a goal every weekend to try a new restaurant in Cincinnati/NKY. When not doing thing outdoors, I like to relax at home and watch reality television (90 day fiancé is my favorite).
Why TCH? After being a student here one month and after my interview day, I knew I loved the culture here. One thing from my interview that really stood out to me was when one of the preceptors said, “patient care and the residency program are seen as equally important here.” This showed that TCH really values their residency program! I also love the mentorship program here. During orientation you get to meet with all of the preceptors for lunch and at the end you rank who you would like to be your mentor. This ensures you have a mentor you will really mesh well with and it gives you the opportunity to meet all the preceptors. Lastly, I love the variety of services offered here at TCH.
Advice for PGY1 residents interested in pursuing a PGY2: Think about a few of your interest areas early on in your PGY1, and try to get learning experiences in those areas prior to midyear to make sure that’s the area you want to pursue. Also, during school they usually helped you keep on track with your CV, letters of intent, etc., but now you have to work on that mostly independently. Definitely, keep up with your CV at least monthly during PGY1 and as soon as you know what program you want to pursue starting working on your letters of intent. That way you have enough time to get them edited.
