The Christ Hospital Health Network is pleased to announce the establishment of a $2 million Endowed Chair in support of its Heart and Vascular Center, underscoring the hospital’s continued leadership position in cardiovascular medicine, and the crucial role of philanthropy in advancing patient care.

The endowment gift from the Frank and Margo Homan Family Foundation ensures that the region’s premiere heart hospital will continue groundbreaking work in the area of Heart Failure.

Walter “Chip” Homan, President and CEO of Auveco Products, is the Executive Trustee of the Frank and Margo Homan Family Foundation. He and the Homan family are advocates for The Christ Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Program and want to see its pioneering work continue for future generations.

"The people in our region depend on The Christ Hospital for the best heart care. We want to help continue this excellence, and are excited to help advance new treatment options and programs through our endowment,” says Mr. Homan.

“We are most appreciative of Chip and the Homan family’s philanthropic support of our Heart Failure Program. Their generosity will enable The Christ Hospital to continue to be the leader of heart care in the region and among the best in the nation,” says Mike Keating, President and CEO of The Christ Hospital Health Network.

Dr. Eugene S. Chung has been named as The Frank and Margo Homan Endowed Chair for Heart Failure. A nationally- recognized heart failure specialist, Dr. Chung is the Executive Medical Director of The Christ Hospital Cardiovascular Physicians. In 2000, Dr. Chung came to Cincinnati to establish the Heart Failure Program at The Christ Hospital.

“I am humbled and honored to be named the endowed chair. Over the years, my team and I have had tremendous success in improving patient care. I’m excited about the future of care for heart failure as well as the technologies and innovations we are able to introduce in the region. I look forward to exploring and implementing new ways to help people with heart failure live long, fruitful lives,” says Dr. Chung.

“Dr. Chung’s expertise in heart failure and his genuine compassion for patients has made him a tremendous asset to our team, and vital to our efforts as we continue to transform heart care for the future,” says Dean J. Kereiakes, M.D., Medical Director, The Christ Hospital Heart and Vascular Center, and Executive Director of the Carl and Edyth Lindner Center for Research and Education at The Christ Hospital.

The endowment gift will provide a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding that will enable Dr. Chung to conduct comprehensive heart failure research, including clinical trials, as well as develop and expand upon heart failure programs.
